Longevity

  • Siberian Ginseng appears to normalize bodily function in the murine model when presented with sleep deprivation (8).
  • In otherwise healthy humans, Siberian Ginseng reduced the changes in heart rate and blood pressure associated with a state of chronic stress (9).
  • In patients with chronic fatigue, Siberian Ginseng was found effective not only in reducing fatigue, but also in improving quality of life (10).
  • Demonstrates a potent ability to reduce blood glucose levels and help increase glucose uptake into the cell, thereby reducing elevated blood sugar levels (11).  


Brain Performance

  • Siberian Ginseng had an anti-depressive effect in the murine model and upregulated cAMP response-element binding. This is yet another mechanism in which the cAMP system is exploited. In fact, Siberian Ginseng appears to modulate catechol-o-methyl-transferase (COMT), thereby increasing and balancing norepinephrine and dopamine levels in the brain (5).

  • One of the active constituents found within Siberian Ginseng - syringin - has the unique ability to release Acetylcholine levels, thereby assisting with memory and alertness (7).

Physical Performance

  • In elite skiiers, Siberian Ginseng improved tolerance to lower oxygen levels and enhanced adaptations to exercise. This was conducted in highly active, well-trained male subjects, and Siberian Ginseng consistently exemplified a profound ergogenic, performance-enhancing effect (1).
  • Siberian Ginseng spares muscle protein and glycogen and instead shifts the fuel source to fatty acids, resulting in increased fat loss. The murine model confirms this in which normal rats gained 25% less fat mass when fed an isocaloric diet to placebo (2).
  • In elite cyclists, a similarly profound effect was observed: 23.3% increase in total work performed and a 16.3% increase in time to exhaustion. This means the athletes not only worked longer but harder as well (3).
  • An improvement in heart rate recovery after physical exercise, improvement of the lactate removal ability, greater ability to obtain energy from aerobic metabolism (by increasing the oxygen consumption and utilization of fatty acids as a source of energy) has been reported with Siberian ginseng consumption and, therefore, an improvement of performance (4).

2 grams (approximately ½ tsp) two times per day. Mix with warm water and drink as a tea. Add to smoothies or shakes if desired. Best taken in the morning and afternoon.
